Aunque uno ya es reacio a tomarse a la ligera previsiones estacionales, se van oyendo voces en el sentido de que Gran Bretaña va a tener un invierno durillo, otra vez. El último en sumarse a esta previsión es Brian Gaze, de «The Weather Outlook». Entre otras cosas, se apoyan en que la historia dice que los inviernos duros no van solos, que acostumbran a llegar en grupo, debido quizás a factores ocultos que persisten de una temporada a otra. El patrón atmosférico esta vez no seria tanto de entradas de norte puras , sinó de entradas de aires mas del este, virando las entradas frías mas hacia zonas rusas, para desde allí enviarse masas bien frías hacia Gran Bretaña, y de rebote, hacia la parte occidental europea, digo yo.
«The Weather Outlook, which has an accurate seasonal forecasting record, warned the UK is now being gripped by a bitter series of winters comparable with the harsh 1939-42 winters which made conditions so horrendous during the Second World War.
“History shows cold winters do tend to come in clusters, indicating underlying factors cause them to persist for a number of years.
“It’s unusual to have three consecutive cold winters, a good example of which are the 1939-40 to 1941-42 winters.
“But we expect the third colder than average winter in succession this winter, with very sharp cold spells bringing heavy snow and severe frost.
Mr Gaze told the western half of the UK to brace for heavy snow – while the eastern half freezes in temperatures as low as 5F (-15C).
“The weather pattern may be different this winter, with cold air from the east or south-east, rather than north east”.
Veremos pués como transcurre la temporada por allí, y como los caprichos de anticiclones y borrascas marcan el guión de como van a ir las cosas, un indicador (el de este pronóstico para Gran Bretaña) de como pueden ir las incidencias meteorológicas por otros lares del continente europeo.
